A pair of top of the range, illuminated, dual needle Sifam 74 Peak Program Meters, among the last of their moving coil products to be made in the UK
Lovely action, and about as accurate as analogue metering can get. Lifted from some portable ex-BBC monitoring equipment. Unfortunately my new AD/DA’s have more than adequate LED metering so I can’t really justify keeping them.
Including illumination/driver boards; +/-6 to 15V power supply required & countersunk M4 mounting boltsOne is set up Stereo & the other for Mid/Side metering (several other configurations available; see below for link to datasheet)
I have left wiring attached and labelled all connections for easy connection, but they are just standard 8 & 10 crimp pin terminal blocks
From the front:
Right-hand meter = 74A; White needle indicates Mid/Sum (overall program level), orange tipped needle indicates Side/Difference (stereo information)
Left-hand meter = 74B; Green needle is left as labelled, red is right, but you can connect it as you’d prefer; it will make no difference to the M/S reading.
Line level 0dB is factory set to 4 on the meter (stereo – the Mid signal will be slightly higher), that seemed about right when I was using it but I can’t be sure if if the BBC had adjusted it or not.

I have a more than suitable (& very rugged), adjustable +/-10 to 15V power supply available, will be listed soon. It was running these meters and a pre-amp circuit with two unbalanced outs & one balanced, high-power line-driver (2 available, will also be listed soon)
