This handy little device is like a swiss army knife for studio or live set-ups, it has a stereo or mono inputs, and can be used as a mixer, stereo splitter or as a signal distributor. Being passive it does not require power, making it ideal for portable use.It measures 5cm x 4cm and is fitted with 3.5mm TRS sockets, no level controls, you simply set the level on the volume control of the connected devices.
You can use TRS (stereo) or TS (mono) cables with it, it has 2 output sockets and 4 input sockets, the outputs are configured so that if using stereo sockets you can choose to output stereo from the L(+R) output or when plugging into the R output have the Left and Right on their own separate mono jacks, instructions are printed on the bottom of the PCB, see pictures for details.
Typical uses include – Mixing Small synths like Korg Volca, Teenage Enginnering Pocket Operators or what have you in a portable or tabletop environment, expanding mixer channels or aux busses on a larger mixer, in a Eurorack modular set up to mix identical oscillators etc into 1 input, as a convenient mixing patchbay for a portable speaker – leave all your items connected, and many other uses!
My mixers have been purchased by pro and novice musicians and technicians the world over, and I have never had a single return or complaint, quite the opposite in fact, check out my feedback comments, many buyers return and buy more than one or one of my other designs.
As with all passive mixers you do lose some gain, but this is easily made up with a pre-amp in your recording device or with an active speaker, this is not suitable for headphones unless going into a headphone pre-amp first.
Very clean signal with no degradation of tone, 10k impedance for problem free mixing, (unlike headphone splitters which are only 16 or 32 ohms)Since it is bi-directional it can be used to mix 4 into 1, or to send 1 source to 4 destinations, for example as a sync splitter or multiple.Check out my other items!
