Welcome to the auction of this rare fantastic sought after proper Midas individual module console designed and made my dave dearden (old DDA) the Midas XL200 with two XL2900 power supplies!
This desk is in excellent condition for its age (old is gold) and comes with 2x XL2900 analog power supplies in a flight case as well as the mixing desk, midas grey dust cover for the board, 4 lamps & cable for the board to psu’s. This desk hasn’t been heavily used or toured, i do this as a hobby & passion for myself, I’ve done a few excellent sounding recordings on this board too which i couldn’t achieve the same outcome of quality on an average middle of the road mixing desk.
Also this desk comes with a number of brand new spares boxed and foam lined direct from midas: spare masters section, subgroup section, fader section of vca’s & subgroup fader module boards, mono input channel module and stereos etc etc total of 16 boxes! Most boxes as shown on photo. Total value of spares is around 3k alone! Also the service on the desk and psu’s totalling almost 5k! All works perfectly. So please bear in mind it cost me 8k for the service and parts alone!
Do your own research and google search this board and you will get the pdf/owners manual on there as well, its the ferrari of mixing consoles, the op/pre amps and caps are also of very high quality and this desk uses the mosfet pre amps TL072 compared to the XL3 & XL4 which are NE5532 so a much warmer sound sweet sound on the XL200. I will try and find the old photo of all the desks in line to show when they were all A+B+C tested. The idea was to use the most cleanest sounding hifi board.
Once you hear this particular board you will never look back and think any other board for sound quality and quality components and definite not a digital board! The sound quality of the XL200 will blow you away!
Anybody who has not heard the sound quality of this board will be blown away how transparent and clean it sounds with a nice flat warm sound. After using so many desks after an old dda back in the day this was the desk which really made my life easier and surprisingly i never hardly used to use graphic equalisers apart from vocal monitors with this board as it sounds so warm and flat, i regret it at the time where i should have got my dda repaired but i didn’t think but however, this board made it even better sounding with more features and extra channels a great experience updated version of a DDA! It looks gorgeous when its powered up like a christmas tree always puts a smile on your face in the looks department and you will always get people complimenting the sound and the way it looks.
You can’t get hold of these hardly anymore its so rare and even if your extremely lucky enough to do so you won’t get one in this condition anyway. They simply don’t build desks like this anymore with the components used, it was very over engineered at the time for the highest quality components available on the market and built like tanks to last forever and costed more than the average house its a true classic!
The desk is big yes but so what, life too short and you have to do what makes you happy too, at the end of the day you don’t lift it its on wheels and you just tilt it over on a mixer easy tilt stand and just take the lid off simple! If you want highest end sound quality and quick easy analog access then this is for you if thats not for you then maybe its not the desk for you.
Anyway i think I’ve said enough, this is a reluctant sale, this was the very last thing i wanted to move on due to the above i just mentioned but due to nursery fees starting next month i don’t have a choice but to sell on who will enjoy it and it will be nice to see it go to a good home and use it more that i did. Sorry about the image quality of the photos i don’t have a great camera and the photos don’t do it justice at all but I’m sure if your looking and have read the description up till now you will know what its all about. Im not a shop or an educated sales man here. If it doesn’t sell I’m not too fussed as I’m very attached to this console and i know i will regret it later but maybe its meant to be for somebody out there to use.
