Designed for the worlds finest recording studios and performance halls equally as well as home studio spaces, its existence is a labour of love for RDE. Every element of the NTR, from the transformer to the ribbon element itself, has been designed and created in-house at RDEs headquarters in Sydney, Australia. All with the aim of crafting the finest ribbon microphone available. Aussies should be proud…oi!
Sonically, the RDE NTR is capable of reproducing unprecedented high frequency detail and accuracy, addressing common criticisms of other ribbon microphones, while opening up the possible usage scenarios considerably. This allows it to record sound sources that usually require a more sensitive microphone element.
Featuring a wide 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, the NTR Active Ribbon Microphone from RDE is based around an impossibly thin and sensitive 1.8-micron-thick ribbon element that’s suspended in an internal shock mounting system to reduce internal noise. It is capable of handling up to 130 dB of SPL, providing versatility in what sources can be placed in front of the mic. A ribbon-securing travel screw in included to help protect the element when transporting the mic. Like many Rode microphones the NTR has an extended 10-year warranty with registration, which includes one free ribbon replacement during the period.
