One of the best, most iconic synths ever. This is the original model with the brilliantly weird membrane covered buttons.
This old warhorse has a few scratches & dings (it was used on tour before I bought it 18 years ago) but works perfectly & was lovingly kept in my studio until I sold it recently… Hang on, how am I selling it again you may ask? Well unfortunately it arrived damaged in transit so was returned to me. By some miracle all the important parts work perfectly. The circuit boards are not damaged at all, all wires are connected, the keys & buttons are perfect & the power input & transformer are absolutely fine (& safe) too. All inputs & outputs are undamaged. I have tried it & it works perfectly… Phew!
However the rear corners of the casing have taken obvious crush damage. I don’t know what must have happened as it has some severe bends & kinks across the back corners (see pics). However the actual synth works without issue!! It’s a real testament to how hardcore this synth is. It actually looks fine from the playing position too, as the damage is only visible from the sides/back. Once it is nestled into your studio you won’t notice the damage at all. Rest assured I will use a different courier company this time!
There is a load of info on this classic synth online, but if you are reading this then you already know just how awesome this 14.7KG leviathan is. What’s great is that you can set up a sound then adjust the operator configuration to get numerous other similar-ish sounds instantly. I have found my most crazy sounds through this beast, & some of my most beautiful textures too. It is a real joy to play.
Basically if you don’t mind a bit of cosmetic damage which will be virtually un-noticeable when it’s in your studio, then you can get a great deal on an otherwise perfect example of this vintage synthesizer.
I also have a Yamaha breath controller for sale, & 3 x original soundbank rom cards on a separate listing. You can see them on the first picture but they are NOT included with the DX7 on this listing.
