For sale, one classic AKG C414 EB complete with the original brass CK12 capsule. This one is in great condition considering its age
– it sounds great and has been checked over and given a clean bill of heath by Dave Way at Funky Junk.
Sometimes referred to as a ‘bright’ sounding microphone the EB-brass is not actually overly bright by modern standards, rather its balanced, with a crisp delicate air
at the top end, beautifully detailed mids, and a tight and focused bass. As a vocal microphone this one is very articulate and detailed – the quality of original CK12 capsules
tended to vary and this particular one sounds very nice. The pads and multiple patterns make it very versatile, its fantastic on acoustic guitar too having both body and detail.
Only the early 414 EB mics contained the brass CK12 – the same capsule as the legendary C12 tube microphone, and it soon became the go-to studio mic of many famous artists,

This mic would suit a wide range of vocalists as it deals with both delicate and powerful voices very well, it has a more ‘realistic’ quality than other C414 versions
and would get frequent use in a commercial studio, or make a great centre-piece to a good project studio.
I’m sorry but I won’t post vintage microphones – you are however invited to test it out when you collect before you take it home.
