FAULTY ART Tube MP Tube Microphone Preamp with 48v Phantom Power SPARES REPAIRS.
When this works, it’s great:)
However, it now intermittently doesn’t allow sound though.
So, it might start fine, run for a few minutes, and then no sound;
Or, it might not start, and then suddenly pop into life and start working (it feels like a sudden loud noise on the input can wake it up, but I’m not certain of this).
Or sometimes, it will work for quite some time.
I don’t think it is dirt in the volume dials causing the problem.
I’d be surprised if the PSU wire was broken, although it is possible (it starts and stops while the wire is not moving, and I can’t get the problem to happen by wiggling it). I *think* the green light stays on when the problem is happening, but was unable to make the problem happen last time I tried, and I’m now out of patience with it.
I’ve wondered if the valve needs replacing, but I just don’t know enough about this kind of thing to make a decent guess.
It’s free postage, and around the price of an ART PSU: I’m listing it because it’s a neat bit of kit and I’d feel sad just dumping it in WEEE waste:( Also, I don’t really need it any more, so I’m not that invested in repairing it.
I’m assuming there’s only one fault, so for the price you’re either getting a working preamp or a power supply, but I can’t guarantee this.
I’ll accept returns only if the item is not as described.
