Internally this is an excellent example of a Watkins / WEM Vari-Speed IC400 Solidstate Copicat from the late ’60s early ’70s that has had the all important EARTHING MOD applied to it, which unless done, leaves these units very unsafe and potentially lethal if a fault occurs. A lot has changed electrically over the past 50-years and the need to earth all Copicats’ whether valve or solidstate from that era is of major importance. Don’t be fooled by those who say otherwise. So, apart from that, any suspect component has been replaced, there is a brand new drive belt fitted with the speed control voltages being checked and adjusted. The heads have all been de-gaussed. Hence the performance of the functions with any/all of the 3 heads is really stunning. Tests for Continuity, Earth Bonding and Insulation all passed with flying colours. The housing case has the usual scars of being around for nearly 50-years.
It has its original WEM foot switch and the jackplug is for connecting directly into an amp. These IC400 Variable Speed Copicats are becoming very popular and can only increase in value over the forthcoming years. In a nutshell W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. I AM MORE THAN HAPPY FOR PEOPLE TO COME AROUND TO SEE IT WORKING. Happy bidding.
