Very flexible modelling preamp from Focusrite. Analogue and digital ins and outs with loads of gain!
Uses the Liquid Channel preamp tech and combines 4 channels of all sorts of different preamp models, from Neve to UA, from Focusrite to SSL. I think, anyway…the names are quite cryptic…
A full list of the models is available online as is the manual – which will help you get the best out of this unit. Some very neat tricks and presets are hidden inside this thing that youll find very handy if you use your space for lots of different types of recording.
I used it for ages on a drum mic setup that I simply have no use for these days – as I dont have many drums in my room anymore, so I really dont need so many mic inputs.
Please note that YES, I am selling two of these. They have slightly different ages of operating system (this one is 1.1) where the lights behave in slightly different ways but they both sound the same. Get both and make your studio better for a great price!
The Sound on Sound review is worth seeking out and I believe there are a few more models of preamp downloadable. I never felt the need however as I was happy with the UA 610 and Neve models – but there is some software for updating this and all sorts of thats your thing.
The only slight negative I should point out is that the XLR sockets arent of the finest quality. Cables tend to get slightly stuck in a couple of them in particular. They are fine with good quality well-machined neutrik plugs – however with cheaper less good plugs you may struggle to get them out. Its not a major issue – but its a bit of a once its in, its in situation with a couple of channels here. Not permanent but not ideal. Totally fixable – but it didnt bother me as I did have it wired in to my patchbay the whole time.
