S2800 = 2 meg stock (one EXM3002 installed into one memory slot) – and there are 2 memory slots – can be updated to 16 meg via two 8 meg expander boards (EXM3008) – You can mix any combination of EXM3002 and EXM3008. Memory is displayed on Megawords which equals half the amount of megabytes (4 Megawords = 8Mb, 8 Megawords=16Mb and 16 Megawords=32Mb which is the maximum possible).
S3000, S3200 and CD3000 = 8 meg stock (one EXM3008 installed into one memory slot ) – and there are 4 memory slots – can be updated to 32 meg via four 8 meg expander boards (EXM3008) – You can mix any combination of EXM3002 and EXM3008. Memory is displayed on Megawords which equals half the amount of megabytes (4 Megawords = 8Mb, 8 Megawords=16Mb and 16 Megawords=32Mb which is the maximum possible).
MPC3000 = uses custom memory Akai part #EXM3002 (2 meg card) and part#EXM3008 (8 meg card) and ALSO has 2 SIMM sockets – Uses 30 pin SIMM1 or SIMM470 @ 80uS or faster – there is no specific order in which to install – in other words you dont have to install the Akai board before you add SIMMs, or visa versa – 2 meg stock (one EXM3002 installed into the one and only expansion slot ) – 3 memory slot (1 slot for Akai boards and 2 for SIMMs) – Can be updated to 16 meg via one 8 meg expander board (EXM3008) and two SIMM 470.
