The Akai 3000 series samplers have a one time fuse on the SCSI connector. If it gets tripped once it dies and causes the aforementioned issues. The worst part is it’s not repairable, it must be replaced with a new fuse. Now you don’t have to track down all the individual parts and worry about getting the wrong parts. This kit is tested and works perfectly in many different Akai’s with this design. This kit replaces the fuse with a kit that uses a more robust glass fuse. A lot of used Akai’s are sold with broken fuses and the seller may not be aware. This kit only takes a couple minutes from start to finish to install and fixes that problem right up.Minor soldering required. This should be simple even for newbies to soldering. The fuse holder leads are pre-tinned before shipping to minimize the work you need to do. One glass fuse will be pre-installed in the holder. It screws apart if the fuse blows and needs to be replaced. The fuse holder section can be rotated on the wire, so it can easily be replaced while the wire ends are soldered to the Akai main board. If you know anyone who can solder, they could do this replacement very quickly! :)The glass fuses I’m sending are tested and verified to match the exact spec of the Akai stock part you will be replacing.
Why not use a resettable fuse (polyfuse)?Simply put, polyfuses DO work in the Akai but they are not an ideal replacement unless you have SCSI equipment which regularly trips the SCSI fuse. The main problem is the polyfuse confuses the Akai on the SCSI status even if nothing is detected, whereas a plain glass fuse like the one sold here acts exactly like the stock part Akai designed for. The behavior of the polyfuse can lead to a lot of “SCSI Device Not Ready” errors appearing, even if you’re not working with any SCSI. Modern SCSI card readers don’t have almost any risk of tripping the SCSI fuse, and DB25 cables currently sold are much higher quality than they were in the 90s. Thus in my experience it’s much more likely you find a used Akai with a fuse already broken than it is for you to trip the SCSI fuse.  Also, the kit I’m selling is much easier to install!
Buyer receives: One 5mm x 20mm fuse holder with fuse pre-installed   One spare fuse    Link to install instructions in PDF format (printed instructions included upon request)Buyer only pays shipping for one unit – all additional fuse kits are shipped for free!(Internationally, each kit will add $0.75 to shipping.)
