ANALOG ELECTRO LO-FI DRUM LOOPS
A great collection of drum loops recorded onto 1/4″ tape using an Ampex AX-300 reel-to-reel recorder.
There are over 200 loops in 24-bit WAV and REX2 formats created using four different drum machines:
SP-1200 (Sampled DMX) 45 Loops [108 bpm]
TR-606 45 Loops [122 bpm]
DRM-1 90 Loops [115 bpm]
MPC3000 (Custom Samples) 30 Loops [127 bpm]
These loops have been A/D converted to 24-bit 44.1KHz to keep the audio detail, but the output of the original machines is a lower bitrate. Some tube-compression was applied to level out any peaks and saturate the tape recording for a ‘gritty’ analog sound. If you listen at high volume you may notice a small amount of hiss, this is due to the age/limitation of the Ampex recorder. For this reason I have described the loops as ‘Lo-Fi’.
