Weight: 48.9kgWorth checking some reviews on-line on ATC SCM50 ASL if you are not familiar with this tri-amp active model’s track record – rather than me try to describe the sound. What Hi-Fi consider it the reference monitor by which they compare everything else – for the last 10 years. It features in many top studio control rooms all over the world and helped give ATC the name it now enjoys from back in the 80’s when it was first released. I have worked in pro-audio for more than 10 years myself and consider them the speakers on which I learned my critical listening.
This pair were bought new for home recording/mastering projects where they have performed flawlessly. They are a matched pair – with consecutive serial numbers. Home is non-smoking environment. They are in perfect working condition, fully tested before listing. The Maple finish is perfect all over with slightly lighter colour where the grilles have been on. Covers have been on from new other than on rare occasion I needed to move them. One grille has a tiny (approx. 2mm) hole which I have photographed with red-ring – see pictures.SCM50s work brilliantly as a mid-field studio monitor. I’ve been using them with great results in a very small room (2.5 x 3m) the past few years at lower levels as a near-field being careful with placement to get the best out of the low-end.A new pair of SCM50 ASL will set you back around 13K. I’m starting the listing low to encourage interest. With less recording going on these days at home, I have now reluctantly to sell this pair with their original ATC black stands and IEC power cables all included.
