I used this as my main controller keyboard for many years, but has been in storage for about 8 years as I just didn’t have space to have my studio out.
Everything is working OK, I had a little play with the onboard synth whilst cleaning it and it still sounds great. A couple of keys need to be pressed hard to work. I suspect that it just needs a good clean, it’s probably dust on the contact. THEY DO WORK THOUGH you just have to give them a bash. I actually think the more I played it the better it got, so again I suspect a dust issue.
Cosmetically it’s OK, a few scratches here and there and there is tape residue on some of the keys (see pic) this will most likely come off with a bit of elbow grease 🙂
The backlight on the screen has faded, thinking about it, I dont actually remember it ever being that good but you can get replacements for these for a few quid on eBay. You can see everything on the screen, but you just need to angle your head the right way.. it never bothered me.
The last time the disk drive was used it worked OK, I’ve not tried it recently as it was just used as a controller. I’ve seen people selling a conversion kit for these so you can put an ssd reader in it’s place, which I have to admit, sounds ace!
I did have the owners manual once upon a time. If I can find it in the loft you will get it too, but again I suspect these can be found on the internet somewhere. I dont think I ever read it…
It’s a monster and it weighs a ton so pick up only from St Neots Cambridgeshire.
Priced to Sell, a nailed on classic synth sampler…I need a smaller controller keyboard though 😉
