Introducing the DirtMic-01, a new approach to overdriving and distorting sounds. Its the ultimate character microphone, but instead of the usual lo-fi or vintage sound, weve created a monster by installing a distortion pedal circuit into an existing microphone, the Superlux D112.The DirtMic circuit has been designed to run off 48v phantom power and it’s transformer balanced so you just plug the microphone straight into any mixer or interface via the XLR connector. Its a simple solution with no need for extra pedals, DI boxes or guitar amps. The DirtMic-01 proudly distorts and contorts everything you point it at. Drums, bass amps, vocals and anything else all sound dirty and wild through it. The amount of gain is controlled by the pre-gain volume pot on the mic itself. Higher gain settings on the right of the dial work to give you the ultimate crushing distortion while lower gain settings on the left of the dial give you edgy, on the verge of breaking up style sound. This mic has been designed to be a character recording microphone, not a live performance microphone. Distortion in a live setting, especially on vocals, can be tricky. Success depends a lot on the style of music, style of vocalist, the PA and foldback equipment being used and the skills of the live sound engineer. If you want to try it live, we recommend starting with a gain setting of around 8 oclock on the gain knob and if all sounds good with no feedback, try and move it slowly up to 10 oclock. Gain settings any higher than this are not going to work without feedback occurring. The recording studio is a different story. DrAlienSmith recommends starting at 12 oclock but there are no limits to the levels of distortion in the studio environment. It all comes down to personal taste. The DirtMic-01 comes with a mic clip, a protective mic pouch, a manual and its covered by a 12 month  repair or replace guarantee.  To hear lots of sound tests on various instruments and applications, search DirtMic-01 in YouTube or soundcloud.

*** Harmonica Players take note *** This mic is designed to be used WITHOUT an amp but if you still want to plug it into an amp then this needs an external phantom power supply like a Behringer PS400 to work.
