Here is a truly wonderful vintage microphone from GEC. The 2373 is the studio model in their ribbon range. Manufactured in the late 40’s to mid 50’s this was the British answer to RCA! This model was a ‘Mic of the Month’ on the fabulous xaudia blog and there is some useful information provided by Stewart with some good photos of the internals. This one is in very good vintage condition and sounds like it should. It comes in a non-original hard case and is supplied with a 3m lead with spade connectors that terminates to a 3pin XLR plug.
As will all passive ribbon mics, a good clean pre-amp in the signal chain brings out the audio magic!
