Harmonica Microphone – Silverfish Sitchable Clean/Dirty . Condition is New. Dispatched with Royal Mail Tracking/Insured UK Special Delivery / International Tracked.
Silver Bullet Dynamic | Standard Harp Mic 50K Dirty/4K Clean Switchable
The Silver Bullet Dynamic | Standard Harp Mic is modelled after the vintage harp mics and features a rugged heavy-all-metal casing, dark hardwood fascia and chunky terminal volume control with angled base-mounted jack-socket. This handmade, artisan harmonica microphone with a low form-factor provides a great standard for the serious harmonica blues player who also plays melody (country, funk, reggae, soul, chromatic) providing a choice of powerful, high/medium impedance elements for a variety of amplified sound within a harp mic that is robust and comfortable to hold for long periods of practice or gigging. It is probably the only harmonica mic available that offers the choice of two separate dynamic elements within the same microphone allowing relatively seamless switch between powerful dirty or clean sound performance. Even if you are mainly a player of dirty blues harmonica cleaning up the sound at a press of a button provides scope for a new range of amplified harp. The clean and dirty sounds are both rich in tone with full harmonic content and great bass.
The mic offers precisely the same performance characteristics of the separate clean and dirty silver bullets but in one mic providing a neat and unique rig with the ultimate in flexibility for your amplified harmonica playing.
Clean sounding dynamic element
The clean dynamic element has a wide frequency response with slightly lower sensitivity and as a result a higher headroom to distortion. At lower to mid gain settings this produces clear and rich low, mid and high sound without excessive treble. Alternatively, if you like a very light touch of distortion turn up the gain on the amp and set microphone to maximum to drive the mic, ideally used in conjunction with reverb. Switching to the clean element suits playing melody, blues, country, funk, reggae, soul or chromatic harmonica.
Dirty/Lo-Fi sounding dynamic element
The dirty dynamic element has a really hot signal that is packed with full harmonic content and great tone with perfect base and mid-sound without excessive treble. The sound is warm, responds to cupping and pressure changes and breaks up nicely. This element has the high sensitivity with slightly lower headroom so if you like crunch distortion and a lovely dirty blues sound then simply switch to this element. Apply a touch of reverb from your amp, turn up the gain to drive the mic and achieve various degrees of distorted, crunchy classic blues harmonica sound, especially when cupped providing a powerful and dirty low-fi sound that is rich and fat in tone.
Both dynamic elements provide a microphone with proven reliability and are ideal for practice or gigging at all levels. Uniquely combing a choice of two contrasting dynamic elements into a single harp mic offers ultimate flexibility for amplified harmonica playing over the full range of styles. This microphone is medium (4K) and high (50K) impedance which therefore needs to be matched to a high (500K/0.5M) impedance sockets on your amplifier and therefore suits most harmonica amplified rigs or the use of a PA. The mic connects to a valve or solid-state amplifier with a standard 1/4 (6.3mm) guitar jack-plug socket.
The microphones size and shape provides a durable design which is smaller than a Marine Band and fits neatly in your hand. It is a perfect size for getting a really good seal for amplified harmonica playing which is much easier than with a larger bullet mic. A really nice feature of this mic is the inset, chunky rubber o-ring seal and gnarled ring at the head of the mic which serves two purposes: firstly it means that the harmonica isnt going slip out of your hands when they get sweaty; secondly it helps achieve a consistent airtight seal around the harmonica and microphone to get the biggest tone you possibly can.
Despite there being a lot packed into this neat microphone it is remarkable light in your hand and easy to hold with a harmonica while performing so you dont get hand cramp after a long practice or performance. The volume knob is firm which means you are not going to accidentally twist it in the middle of a particularly enthusiastic harmonica solo. The sensitive volume control provides you with excellent control to boost your output, control unwanted feedback or to control levels of distortion effect. The small brass micro-switch enables silent and relatively seamless switching between elements during your performance.
The microphone is supplied with a hand-crafted leather finish that wraps tightly around the microphone and is a nice finishing touch for your microphone that reflects the artisan craftsmanship of the mic while providing some additional grip, seal and protection. A leatherette pouch is supplied as standard with the option to upgrade to a leather case as a small additional cost. An instruction leaflet is provided on how to set up and work with this switchable mic.
