HRK C2584 Stereo COLOUR Effects Processor including 2 x Soviet Pentode & 2 x Discrete Line Driver

Beautiful little stereo unit including 4 modules. Sounds great for enhancing mixes, or single tracks. Only selling for more pressing funds.

C2584 houses 4 x Colour Modules:

2 x Soviet Pentode Tube Driver:

The Soviet Pentode is a true Class A tube saturation Colour Module. The Soviet Pentode is built with sub-miniature, military grade, USSR made, NOS thermionic valve. The Soviet Pentode can operate in Triode or the Pentode Mode. Each mode offers different Saturation characteristic which results in different tonal results. The Triode Mode has lower gain, produces mainly second harmonics and the sound is warmer, more mellow. The Pentode Mode delivers 3dB higher gain, overdrives much quicker, produces more of 3rd and 5th harmonics and the sound is more bright and crisp. Both Operation Modes add natively occurring tube compression. The Module does not use any DC/DC converter and does not contain dangerous high voltage.

2 x Discrete Line Driver (a-la Neve) Transformer

The Discrete Line Driver is the Class A, No-Feedback Loop Transformer Driver Colour Module. The design was inspired by the circuitry from Vintage Console from 60s. The Discrete Line Driver is made with Vintage NOS Silicon and Germanium transistors. The main driver circuit is build with three transistors creating a compact circuit with no Feedback Loop! This special circuit is completely stable in the AC and DC domain. The Driver Circuit is DC coupled with the output transformer. As a result, the Discrete Line Driver produces plenty of harmonics and provides better saturation of the output transformer. The FEEDBACK jumper reduces the amount of harmonics and makes the sound cleaner. The fourth Germanium Transistor in the input stage has the LF resonant circuit. If the LBOOST jumper is shorted, the module produces a low-frequency bump, saturating the output transformer in the LFs. The Discrete Line Driver Colour Module produces thick and full sound, just like the line drivers in the Vintage Mixing Consoles.
