This auction is for a barely used, virtually pristine Novation KS4. This cost the best part of a grand back in the day and the price has probably bottomed out now everyone seems to want vintage analogue gear these days but this fifteen-year-old beauty will almost certainly start appreciating in value as people search for that classic early 2000s Novation sound.
This four-octave polyphonic synthesizer really is a do-it-all workhorse. The sound engine, filters and effects use extremely effective analogue emulation based on the vastly more expensive and complex Supernova (Novation had nailed this by 2003 and it’s virtually indistinguishable from true analogue) and adds a crazy amount of functionality and a bigger, more responsive keyboard to the relatively basic but extremely popular monophonic Novation K-station, so it’s perfect as a performance instrument.
The keyboard has full-sized keys and aftertouch, is semi-weighted, and each of the thirty-threeknobs and sliders transmit MIDI. It has a comprehensive range of effects, four arpeggiators and a sixteen-band vocoder. There are three oscillators which provide sawtooth, triangle, sine,pulse width modulation and myriad other custom waveforms. There’s even a FMsynth engine, and the ability to create drum sounds and patterns!
I will be very sad to see it go, but I need to downsize my studio and it should really be enjoyed by someone else it could be the only synth you ever need!
It has seen light studio use only, and the only sign of age is a slight crack in the plastic cover on the digital display (see pictures). This does not affect use, and cannot be seen when it’s turned on.
Due to the weight and the possibility of damage in transit this is for collection only. If you would like to help me avoid eBay’s final price fee then cash on collection would be appreciated!
I am in Biggleswade, which is easily accesible by road or rail on the A1 and the London to Peterborough train line and am very flexible regarding pick-up times.
