Lovely vintage cardioid Russian ribbon mic for sale – excellent working condition.
Less well known than their Beyerdynamic rivals, these are possibly even more useful on a wider range of sources, for a more affordable price tag! I am keeping one of these in my locker but have one to sell.
From UK Ribbon mic expert/manufacturer Xaudia (who also refurbished this model and added XLR connector):
“The ML19 ribbon microphone from Oktava is still somewhat underrated and I think this is one of the best sounding end-address cardioid ribbon mics. Based loosely on the RCA BK5, the ML19 has a wider ribbon and is a little warmer in tone with a good bass response, without being overly dark or woolly. Great for upright bass and horns and any source where you need rear end rejection.”
I’ve included a shock-mount which I use with these mics, makes for a good rumble-less suspended directional mount.
