This is a very rare intact and boxed Lexicon LD12T interface with the PC90 daughterboard: Lexicon’s ill fated entry into the high end audio interface market. Original retail price was around GB 2700. There are a few reasons you might want this.
Firstly, perhaps you like collecting odd bits of music technology history. I’d speculate that though the box is a bit tatty, it might well be one of the last ones on the planet.
Secondly, maybe you like a challenge? To get this working (and I’m assuming everything supplied is working as I have no way of testing) you will need a suitable Windows 95 or 98 PC, or a G3 Mac with room for a substantial PCI card. Then you’ll need a a copy of Cubase or Logic (or contemporaneous software) as a host to run the interface. And probably a bit of patience. Amazingly, to help things along, Lexicon retain all of the manuals and software for the system on the discontinued products section of their web site. You are strongly advised to check it out before bidding.
Along with an outdated audio interface, your reward for all of this is the two PC90 reverbs running off the daughterboard. These are a version of the PCM90 hardware reverb unit, and Lexicon state:
“The PC-90 combines the quality and power of Lexicon reverb on dedicated hardware with the easeand elegance of a software plug-in interface. Unlike software-based plug-ins, the PC-90 providesoutstanding sonic quality with no burden on your computer processors performance.”
I have no way of testing this but believe it to be working m. There’s no mechanicalelement to it, and other gear I have of a similar age all continues to work fine (RME Hammerfall PCI + PCMCIA / Emagic EMI 2|6 / Korg Prophecy etc)so I’m pretty sure this will too.
The two postage options are 20 (uninsured) and 35 (insured to 500). If you are an international buyer there was no option for me which covered the cost of sending a 5KG package so we will have to try and work something out if eBay allows that kinda thing.
Happy bidding and don’t go crazy! Condition is Used.
