The AS 6001is a high efficiency amplifier which Is capable of delivering a greaterpercentage of its input power to the speaker load than most other amplifiers.Under actual operating conditions itspower conversion efficiency approaches that of digital switching amplifiers.However, digital switching amps are still plagued by poor specifications andcumbersome operating constraints. The AS 6001 provides the superior transientresponse and low distortion figures associated with the best and most reliable analoguedesigns.DESIGNDETAILSTheAS 6001 represents a significant advance in the art and science of analog poweramplifier design. It incorporates MOFSETS where they should be used In thedriver stage where their immunity from secondary breakdown lets them reliablydrive bi-polar output devices which can present an essentially capacitive loadat high frequencies The unique design on the output stage uses four supplyvoltages This greatly reduces internal power dissipation. Rather than switchingbetween the various supply voltages, the AS 6001 smoothly directs its outputstage to the appropriate supply. The output is free of the “glitches”that plague other multiple supply designs. In fact, due to the propriety designof the power output section, the discontinuities visible on distortion analysis are much smaller than those normally associated with crossoverdistortion in single supply class AB designs. You will have to judge foryourself.The amplifier delivers 650 watts per channel into 4 ohms both channels driven and 1000 watts per channel into 2 ohms both channels driven. The photographs are of one of the amplifiers I have for sale, the other unit is the same. The amplifier has been rack mounted all its life and is in excellent condition. The buyer will not be disappointed. I would prefer local collection so the buyer can see and hear the amplifier running and I do not really trust carriers with this type of equipment.
