The rare holy grail of vintage Roland synths, the System-100 Model 101, this unit is in fully working order and great cosmetic condition.
The 101 is a fully self-contained semi-modular (yes it’ll work with your modern system!) analogmono-synth. It features a 37-note keyboard, and lots of sliders to tweak. Its design issimilar to the SH-series analog synths. Controls for the VCO, LFO,VCF lowpass/highpass filters, VCA with ADSR, Noise, and Portamento/Glideeffects are all within hands reach. There’s also a handy A-440Hz tuningoscillator, like on the Minimoog.
As with all 70s Roland keyboards, this unit will very rarely have double triggering on the keyboard, this is because they use copper leaf key contacts which have this issue when they get dirty. These have been recently individually hand cleaned, so the issue is currently rare when playing, but if you leave it for a 6 months without playing it often, then these issues will come back, even if you were to fully replace the contacts, it’s the nature of these instruments.
The cosmetic issues in total are as follows: small scratches (less than an inch each) on the front paint, 2x missing screws on the front panel (no structural issues from this), 1x missing screw on the back “voltage panel” plate (see photo of behind), and the knobs are fairly worn.
