SHARP IQ-5000 was very expensive and made very limited quantities those days
so i’ts very hard to find even in Japan nowadays..
SHARP IQ-5000 is extremely rare and very early talking translator made in Japan
it translates Japanese to English also English to Japanese with electronic synthesized voice
it’s a kind like legendary TEXAS INSTRUMENTS LANGUAGE TRANSLATOR used by KRAFTWERK in “COMPUTER WORLD”
Florian Schneider(KRAFTWERK) used IQ-5000 in his solo interview tape for japanese magazine 1989
so probably he bought it from Japan during their ’80s”Computer World Tour”
in his interview tape(made by himself with deep effected voice!)
he uses some japanese phrase e.g.”arigatogozaimasu,watashi no denwa bangou wa…”
I don’t know he did use or not his IQ-5000 in KRAFTWERK’s albumsbut it’s a very interesting fact that he had IQ-5000
IQ-5000’s voice sound is very unique and original, early speech synthesizer sound
