Steinberg SMP-24 MIDI processor SMPTE writer / reader / synchroniser
This device was developed by Steinberg, in the 1990s, to process MIDI data, write and read SMPTE timecode using Atari computers running Pro24 and Cubase software. It comes with a cable that connects the serial printer port of an Atari to the Centronics bus of the SMP-24. I used it successfully in the late 1990s and have not used it since.
I think it works as a standalone MIDI processor and SMPTE writer / reader, but I cannot be sure so no guarantees can be made.
It appears to boot up as it should and programmes and parameters can be changed with the buttons on the front. But again, no guarantees can be made.
I am not sure which version of the firmware is installed but the display shows ‘2.0’ on startup.
The serial number is 849/0132P
The original manual is included.
Please message via eBay with any questions and I will do my best to answer them.
