For the past few years this little box has challenged the way I approach sound design, synthesis, performance, and workflow. It’s limitations breed creativity and I’ve made many tracks from start to finish on it.
The synth engines vary from lush to terrifying.
The drum samples are crisp and punchy and I’ve added a few bonus kits myself.
The tape-machine-style recording function allows for interesting performance effects.
But this multifaceted tool comes into full force with its sampling capabilities: Sampling through the 3.5mm pin to a phone, or using the mic input, or through the inbuilt FM radio brings unending variability in pushing sounds outside their comfort zones and manipulating them in unique and intuitive ways.
As a standalone piece of kit, the OP-1 is comprehensive and engaging. I am only selling due to beginning a Eurorack project (much to the dismay of my wallet).
Works as it did out of the very flimsy black styrofoam box that teenage engineering shipped it in (you will receive it packaged more properly than this).
Only sign of wear is a small stain towards the upper end of the keys (pictured).

This machine did not come with much of a manual. It is intended for you to dive into it and learn how to use it in your own unique way. However, the UI is a little bit tricky to get to grips with at first so I’ll be offering the buyer a couple of skype sessions to help them get over the first few hurdles they may have with this (if they so wish).
