Universal Audio Apollo Duo – FireWire / Thunderbolt2 Interface, UAD preamp & DSP.
Hands down the Apollo is one of the most reliable interfaces ever made by the leaders in this technology – UA. These things hold their price, because of their incredible quality and the fact that UA refuses to stop supporting them. The support for all UA hardware and software is absolutely incredible. This interface may be a few years old, but it works with the lates UA software console, gets the latest updates and shines over most brand new interfaces.
The Apollo offers UA’s revolutionary UAD2 technology, which allows you to process the analog signal with digital plugins before it goes into its AD converters. That means that the 4 ultra-sharp and punchy preamps can run vintage hardware amp emulations like Neve, API etc on the analog signal and give you the closest representation to the real hardware units.
The DSP can load UA plugins and take a load of you computer’s CPU and we all know Universal Audio make the best plugins out there.
The package comes with UA’s basic plugins like 610 emulations, 1176 compressors, LA-2A and more.
I have the original box although over the years it has degraded. The unit has aways been taken care of and has been kept only in a rack.
The only comment on the unit is that one of the Hi-Z inputs in the front can be a bit funny sometimes and doesn’t aways work. In my opinion that is due to dust buildup in the input. The simplest service should take care of it, but I can’t be bothered by it as I need to sell it ASAP. This interface has served me greatly over the years and I’m only selling it for financial reasons.
You are welcome to come and test it yourself. Once you go UA you never go back!!!
