You are looking at a classic and somewhat rare 1970’s Shure Brothers 330 model ribbon microphone with a metal Shure mic case in which to store this mic. This is a very cool combo / package and great for studio use, broadcasting and singing. It should be noted right away that this microphone has it’s original ribbon and all components. The mic has been tested and it’s element has good tone with a strong usable signal. These mics tend to be a little more on the low impedance side so while it has an adjustable impedance switch you might want to use an E.Q with your audio equipment to get just the right sound for you. Pic # 2 is from a catalog I have showing the mics basic specs. The 330 was just one of two models introduced in the early 1950’s from Shure Brothers. This was the uni-directional design as where the 315 model was strictly bi-directional. The 330 had harder, more masculine lines than the 315 and slightly more Italian deco in design. An absolutely beautiful piece of artwork really. This was a state of the art and quality mic for it’s era. Many of these examples still work very well even today. The Shure 330 was made from about 1950 to 1970. A good 20 year run and its really too bad they stopped making it as it was without a doubt one of their finest mics ever. The 330 has an adjustable impedance switch on the front, bottom lower shock mount that works great. This 330 came with the beefy lower shock mount that was designed to absorb impacts that would otherwise give the mic unwanted feedback while live. The shock mount works like new with the slightest lean but there is plenty of tension. This mic takes a standard female XLR cable which is not included. The 330 was a special mic in that it was one of the very few early American mics to incorporate the XLR attachment as in 1950’s the XLR cable was almost unheard of. Shure was way ahead of the game with the 330 microphone. As seen in the pics provided this mic shows a minimum of cosmetic wear. It’s a beautiful example and was well taken care of. The satin chrome glows nicely but there are signs of tiny pitting in the finish. Not too bad overall though and one of the nicer examples out there. Mic is solid…no loose parts inside or out. The joint mechanism holds strong and the black Shure label looks pretty good. Overall this mic is a conservative 7 + on a scale of 1 – 10 physically speaking. The period Shure metal mi case shows just a little more wear. It’s included in this sale… The case is a quality Shure accessory and very rugged. It has the stock grey paint scheme with typical signs of wear but it’s free of corrosion or dents and the locking mechanism works perfectly. Two new foam pads were installed to keep the mic safe and snug inside. The case is appx 9 1/2 inches long X 3 1/4 inches deep X 2 1/2 inches tall. Again, a very good combo package. MICROPHONE STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE…FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. As with all my vintage microphones… I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.
