This simple, elegant and timeless design came right from Buchanan, Michigan during the 1950’s and has a look similar (but distinctive) to the Shure 55 which was equally beautiful with it’s clean lines and deco appearance. Certainly one of the most beautiful mics of all time and it comes with a an equally rare Philco 425 model floor stand based on the E.V 425 model. Philco was a company that sold a ton of electronic equipment back in the day and made most of their own equipment but they were known for selling microphones from other companies such as E.V and rebadging them with their company name. This was one of them. They kept the model number the same (950) as E.V as they did the floor stand (425). This mic is pretty rare and I would assume they only sold a few thousand of them. The stand is even harder to come by as you hardly see any E.V 425 stands. This is a great combo being that they are both Philco models. This 950 cardax utilized the crystal element which had a decent sound when they were new. This one has been tested and has a strong enough signal to use but keep in mind these crystal mics needed phantom power to get the full sound otherwise they sounded very tinny and weak. With proper phantom power this mic should sound just fine. I do have many more pics of this mic and stand if you’d like to see more? Just ask and I’ll send them in an e-mail. As seen in the pics provided…the polished chrome finish has very lite wear and one of the nicest examples of a 950 I have seen. Certainly in the top 5 % of whats out there. Let the pictures be your guide. I try to provide the most detailed, up close photos available so you know exactly what you are getting and no buyers remorse so common with these older mics. There are no dents or fractures on this mic. The joint mechanism holds strong and the switch mechanism works just as it should. The black screens are perfect with no holes or rips and evenly colored.   Threads for the cable and stand are perfect. The 950 badge looks pretty good and the on / off switch works perfectly. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE… A philco mic wouldn’t be complete without a period Philco stand. This 425 model is an all aluminum design that’s lite weight with an ultra stable base. Both the adjustable stems / poles and base have a satin chrome finish. The E.V 425 floor stand is hard enough to come by as it is but the Philco model…almost impossible. This is the only example I have ever seen and I’ve been doing this for years. If you demand rare then this is right up your alley. The 425 has the original Philco badge that looks spectacular. The 425 has an easy up / down contraption. The red button on top of the stand can be depressed so that you can lower the top pole to the required height quickly and once the button is released the pole locks into place firmly.  You can raise the top section quickly simply by lifting the top pole. Sometimes these stand have a worn locking mechanism but this stand works perfectly. No issues. Stand at it’s lowest height is appx 37 inches tall. When fully raised it’s 62 inches. Add another another 6 inches with the mic on top. The poles look like new. The base and legs show more wear but still look pretty good overall. Lite pitting and scratches. The 3 legs are very wide making it hard to knock this stand over. The tip of each leg is appx 19 inches apart from each other. You’ll notice that the legs and base come off the poles and once it’s detached you can fold the legs together for easy storage. To tighten the legs into place when being used simply screw the pole firmly in place and it’s locks the legs together via tension. This would make an excellent prop or display piece. Again, super rare and in very nice shape.  As always… I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not…I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that’s fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition…period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.   If you have any questions feel free to ask and…thanks for looking. Country of Manufacture United States Model 950 Type Vintage Microphone Brand Philco
