Surface rust to iron base
Seems to work well, if you adjust it with one hand it pulls up easily, then when you push down it bounces up slightly
The top part does pull out entirely, I think it may be supposed to have a piece of leather at the end to hold it in
Gooseneck attachment has an extra ring which may be an adapter for it to fit. This can be removed and the plastic part fitted directly if you prefer
