This is the first of two vintage Vitavox K15/40 AlNiCo 15 ohm 15 inch cone drivers I have listed separately on eBay.
These legendary speakers are still made today by Vitavox in England, to a design that hasn’t changed for decades. A new one costs over 3000 (www.decoaudio.com/deco_audio_drive_units.html). They were used in old Klipschorns and other cinema and theatre speakers. They’re engineered to the highest standards and feature a massive AlNiCo magnet. I dont know exactly how old this one is but it is vintage and due to its age will need the paper cone replacing. I’ve spoken to Vitavox who’ve confirmed they still make replacement cones for the K15/40. The cone costs around 300 (+25 for them to fit) and is a routine procedure that can also be done yourself. Vitavox also offer other cone types that can change these from a 15 ohm to 8 ohm speaker if you wish. Vitavox can also service the speaker for 75 if required. Please speak to them directly about any of this.
I’ve tested this speaker briefly by wiring it up to my amp and playing some music. It worked and sounded clear to me but I only listened at a low volume and due to the tears in the cone it is being sold as seen. I also measured the DCR (resistance) across the terminals, which reads approx. 11.5 ohms – the correct value for these.
Please study all of the photos for the exact condition. The photos are of the actual speaker you will receive. The cast aluminium basket looks in good, vintage condition with no dents. There are some minor marks/paint loss commensurate with age. As mentioned already the paper cone has tears.

The speaker weighs approx. 10.5kg in total. The chassis measures approx. 15″ wide by 8″ deep (inc. magnet), with a cone diameter of approx. 13″. I’ve put a Rubik’s cube in one photo for scale.
